STORY

What is YOSEKI?

YOSEKI is a tribute performance project by a devoted fan of YOSHIKI — the leader, composer and pianist of the legendary Japanese rock band X JAPAN. The name comes from a simple idea: in Japanese, "YOSE (寄せ)" means "to draw closer," so "YOSE-KI" is the wish to draw a little closer to YOSHIKI. This is not a professional musician, just someone whose love for the music is second to none, sitting at the piano every day.

About the activity

The focus is piano, mainly covering songs by X JAPAN and YOSHIKI. From delicate, classical phrases to powerful, emotional ballads, each piece is played with care for the atmosphere of the original, while adding a personal interpretation. New performances are shared little by little as short videos on YouTube and TikTok. The playing is still far from perfect, but knowing that someone is listening is the greatest encouragement.

Looking ahead

The near-term goal is to slowly expand the repertoire while raising the quality of each performance — and one day, to play YOSHIKI's music well enough to truly "draw closer" to it. That effort even extends to getting closer in build (bulking up, which is turning out to be a stubborn challenge of its own). This site will keep updating with performance videos and glimpses of the journey. Your support would mean the world. Thank you, and nice to meet you 🌹
